Boro Futonji Panel

Antique indigo cotton boro panel  of futon cover fabric (futonji).   In recent years  boro has become associated with  'visible mending', but the interesting stitching and  patching on authentic boro pieces  like this wasn't meant to be seen.  These patches were on the inside of the futon cover so weren't even seen by the family.  This is a simple panel  measuring 36cm x 125cm.    Lovely to display as-is or as the starting point for  your own  project.  Early - mid 20th century.
