Kaya Mosquito Netting
Traditional Japanese mosquito nets, called, kaya were big cubes of open weave cotton or hemp that were hung from the corners of a room. This is double panel of cotton kaya. approx 75cm x 163cm. Very Japanesey over a door or window on a warm summer afternoon. Lots of potential for stitching and/or applique. The colour is darker than it looks in the photos (indigo is hard to get right!). Early - mid 20th century.
