Big Bag of Donsu
Donsu is a damask weave that originated in China and has been used for centuries for tea ceremony bags, scroll backings etc. Traditionally it would be silk but most of the ones that come through the shop are silk blends, rayon etc. Donsu are typically come in subtle, muted colours. I like the theory that these traditional tones originated from weavers in Japan copying samples from China which were already faded . This is a bag of oddments and remnants from quite small to up to about 70cm x 1m. The texture varies from a soft rayon feel to some that are a little papery. All in perfect condition. Beautiful for bags, cushions or maybe the start of a really special quilt. Probably mid-20th century.
