Antique Needle Box

The compartments in this lovely old box  held packets of needles. The lids are labelled with ' futon needles',  'embroidery needles' , ' machine needles' etc. I've only seen two other boxes similar to this  (one's on display in my shop) . I'm not sure if they were used to sell needles in a shop, if they were used to sell needles to shops, or if they were  perhaps storage for needles used in a kimono shop. It measures 35 x 18.5 x 3 cm.  Wonderful display piece - or you can store your needles in it . I'll include a translation of the needle names. Late 19th - early 20th century
