Antique Scrapbook
Based on the illustrations and the 'modern girl' hairstyles and fashions in some of these magazine clippings I'd date this scrapbook to the late 1920's - early 1930's. This was a time when there were a large number of magazines targeting middle-class women , such as 'Lady's Graphic' and 'Housewives' Friend" . There are clips of hairstyles, children, royals, a couple of humorous photos, a traditional wedding kimono etc etc. The book seems to have started life as a geography notebook with a few pages of notes still in the back. There are some loose cuttings but also some blank pages that you could paste them into. This a lovely glimpse into one person's interests and taste - a bit like an early Pinterest account. The book is a little tatty looking with the front page nearly off, but the main body of the book is quite sturdy. It measures 18cm x 26 cm x 2cm.
