Grey Floral Silk Kimono
This is the kind of kimono I love best - it's silk, but understated and has the charming individual character that kimonos had when they were worn every day and not just to weddings or tea ceremonies. It measures 120cm from cuff to cuff and is only 112cm long . It's been tacked up at the waist so you would gain another 8 - 10cm in length if you wanted to undo that. That suggests it was worn by a young girl - even though they're not typically young girl colours. It has a plain white cotton lining and 'garon lace' ribbon around the hem and part of the sleeve openings. All our kimonos have been hand-stitched but I'm sure this one was actually made at home, rather than in a shop. The joined fabric in one sleeve is a clue! There is a small stain on the other sleeve.
