Kakishibui Sakabukuro Remnants

A bundle of remnants from an old mat that had been made from sakabukuro  straining bags used to make sake.  These are a  sturdy canvas-weight cotton  treated with persimmon tannin to prevent rotting  (kakishibui) .   Eleven pieces  (approx 400g) -  smallest is approx 10cm wide.  Wonderful rustic character and would  look terrific with old indigo.  Probably early 20th century
