Striped Double Cloth Wool Bolt
I don't quite get how weaving 'double coth' works but the result here is a woven stripe on one side of the fabric and plain dark indigo blue on the other (the colour is truer in the first photo than the second). It is also softer than most of our wools but still stiff enough that it should work well in a tailored garment. This bolt is approximately 37cm x 11m and is 93% wool and 7% rayon. The label says it's been treated with 'ever resist' shrink-proofing. I don't know what that entails but it definitely doesn't come with a shrink proof guarantee! Probably c. 1960's or 70s.
