Vintage Hagoita

Hagoita are  the paddle like racquets used in the traditional New Year's game of hanetsuki, They're now  common New Year's decorations.  This is an unusual small wooden hagoita  with bells inserted into holes in the board,  and decorated with brocade, silk crepe, cords and a silk rosette. It measures  32cm x 10cm .  Wonderful old retro  display piece.  Early - mid 20th century.
