Specialising in authentic cotton and silk Japanese textiles for quilters, textile artists, and collectors.

About Wafu Works
I’ve been selling vintage Japanese textiles, paper and
antiques since I returned to Tasmania in 1997 after living for nearly ten years in Imabari in Ehime Prefecture. I opened Wafu Works at Kingston Beach in 2001. Since then I’ve become more and more passionate about Japanese textiles and the history they tell about everyday household sewing and fabric re-use.
My online shop offers a selection of unique curated bundles and individual items featuring authentic old cotton and silk fabrics, vintage haberdashery and other Japanese craft supplies and textile related antiques. My approach is to keep adding to it as time allows with the aim of making it just like a fun and tempting stall at a temple flea market - full of ever-changing treasures and surprises. I hope you’ll enjoy having a look around. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

COVID-19
The shop is open for business and I’m following all the required covid safety measures. I rarely have enough customers in at one time to make social distancing difficult but if you would prefer to make an appointment to come out of regular hours, either by yourself or with a small group of family or friends, please give me a call. I live at the shop – so it’s easy to do.
The online shop is only accepting orders from within Australia but overseas customers are welcome to email me directly. Thank you for your understanding. Take care . Jan.
