Retro 1977 Sashiko Book (Japanese)
'Sashiko' by Eiko Yoshida. Published as part of a series on 'handmade life' in 1977. Around the late 1970’s sashiko started to become popular as a hobby for a lot of people who didn’t necessarily have any strong family connection to traditional sashiko. This book is interesting because it's the earliest I've found for hobbyists (Please let me know if you have something earlier!) It has a few pages talking about sashiko and a number of traditional and less traditional patterns (maekake apron, nagoya obi, jackets, cushions, tablecloth etc) with colour and black and white photos. Hard cover - in near perfect condition 80 pages, 24cm x 19cm x 1cm. This is a treasure - and I'll get more copies in when I find them.
