Katazome Panel - Hexagons and Floral

Unusually busy hexagon and floral katazome (stencil resist dyed cotton). This is a panel from a futon cover and measures 36cm x 85cm.   Dark indigo with burnt orange accents.   It's double -sided. Although futonji only needs to be one-sided they often stencilled the rice paste resist on both sides of the fabric as a precaution against the dye bleeding into the white pattern. Katazome  futon fabrics like this were produced in commercial workshops up until the mid to late 1930s.  It's in good condition with no holes or patches.  A feature panel for an indigo quilt or lovely just to hang on the wall.
