Katazome Panel - Koi

Koi carp are an auspicious motif symbolizing perseverance, strength and good fortune. This dynamic indigo katazome (stencil resist dyed) piece was probably meant for a trousseau futon.  It measures 34.5cm x 152cm and the design is only on one side   Katazome futon cover fabrics like this like this were produced in commercial workshops up until the mid to late 1930s.  It's in good condition with no holes or patches. A beautiful feature panel for an indigo quilt or to display
