Red Kimono Silk Bolt

Vibrant  vermillion  bolt of  as-new  kimono silk.   Hand-dyed in Kyoto.  All over chrysanthemum pattern in the weave. Beautiful soft drape.  36cm x 12m. Late 20th century.

(Back story : Many years ago my then husband/supplier organised to get  a number of rolls of  kimono silk  hand dyed in Kyoto to match a deep rich red that some of my customers had been looking for.  We were told they could match anything  so I gave him an antique sample that I loved.   Some months later they  turned up  - including this one.  The colour is stunning - but nothing at all like the  colour of the sample! I'm sure there are still more in a box somewhere...)
