Small Wool Fukusa
This type of fukusa are not widely used anymore but were gift covers for traditional ceremonies and formal occasions. This very small one has been home made from wool muslin ('mosu') - possibly repurposed from a boy's kimono. Along with auspicious, crane, pine and Mt Fuji motifs there is a 'takarabune' treasure boat. Takarabune usually hold the Seven Lucky Gods - but this one seems to be full of good luck symbols. It measures 31cm x 36.5cm and has a small amount of insect damage (which is usual for old wool). Late 19th - Early 20th century.
